50 percent of all dogs are overweight, and more than 20 percent of felines need to shed pounds. However, older indoor cats top all groups, with some studies reporting 60 percent are obese. Owners may chuckle to hear their beloved pets needs to shed some weight. Like humans, carrying extra weight affects the quality and longevity of a pet’s life. Diabetes, heart disease and hip and knee problems are just some of the issues that many obese pets face.
Sometimes, owners aren’t to blame for they are feeding their dogs and cats, the amount recommended on the bag of food.
Like a shampoo bottle telling us to “rise and repeat,” the bags of food for cats and dogs recommend higher amounts of food than required to increase profit.
People just might not have enough time to devote to their dogs, and maybe by giving them lots of treats and good food is a way of nurturing them,
