Why is my cat peeing on the floor?

June 20, 2006 by pet-admin

First thing that you should make sure your cat doesn’t have a urinary tract infection or anything. Take him/her to the veterinarian .They will find out if your cat just needs some antibiotics to clear up any problems.

If it still didn’t work, then you’ve got got to figure out why your cat is peeing on the floor. Ours is a long-haired cat, which are known for having a textural preference for smooth, slick surfaces. Our cat pees exclusively on the kitchen floor, which is covered in linoleum. Put down some rugs, buy some different floor tile, and see if that stops the behavior. Get a bigger litter box, get more litter boxes, get different litter, play with your cat until he’s too exhausted to pee on the floor. Give him treats when he goes in his litter box, and give him the silent treament when he goes on the floor. Clean up with Nature’s Miracle to avoid having your cat go back to the floor and pee there again because he’s peed there before.

If that doesn’t stop the behavior, you can just make sure your cat doesn’t go near the area where they like to pee. Try the cat stop! product, which makes an annoying sound that only your cats (and dogs, don’t forget) can hear. Now they’ll avoid that area and pee where they should be peeing: their litter box.
