Pet Care and Animal Rescue
Animals rescue is a tough but rewarding hobby. I have been involved with Animal Rescue for approximately 8 years now. I have seen some very severe cases involving horses to cats and dogs. People don’t seem to realize that when you take on the responsibility of a pet, it should be a permanent thing. Meaning if you have to move, that’s fine, but find a home for your pet so the pet don’t go without care and love. So many people I have encountered didn’t realize just what happens to their pets that they place ads for in their local newspapers under the title of ‘FREE TO GOOD HOME”. People think that they can believe everything that the person tells them.
Sometimes these cats and dogs and puppies and kittens end up in horrible situations such as in labs being used as test subjects. Yes, It still happens. Then with Horses, In my area, there are many families who post ads for their horses and pony’s that Reads “Horse - Free to good home” Honestly, horses are not free. If they are to be properly cared for, they have to have vet care, feed and vaccinations. That’s just the beginning of it. NO animal is really free.
All I ever asked of people when I meet them in a situation where they have been placed through their own stupidity is “Why didn’t you ask for help before it got to this”? Most reply, I didn’t realize there was help out there. There is always help out there for anyone who has an animal in need and can not properly care for it or feed it. I have never encountered a rescue group that would refuse to help someone when they ask for it.
Animal Care is as important as taking care of yourself. They need food, water and vet visits to ensure good health and quality time with humans and other pets so they can be socialized. There are many irresponsible pet owners in this world and when they dont tend to their animals properly in my area, I get a phone call from a concerned Neighbor or from the Animal Control as they know I will take in the horses that have been malnourished or abused.
