Shih-poo Temperament
November 26, 2006 by pet-admin
Shih-poo is a mixed-breed dog that is a cross between two breeds of dog: the Shih Tzu and a Poodle. It is one of many Poodle hybrids that seek to create dogs with the intelligence and hypoallergenic traits of the Poodle
Shih-poos’ parent breeds share many temperament traits, more so than appearance. Therefore it is easier to generalise their personality. They are normally friendly, extroverted, intelligent, and alert. They are very sociable, and seem to enjoy being fawned on and being the centre of attention. They are demonstrative, doing poorly in kennels because they want their owner’s company. The Shih-poo does well with other pets of all species, and children.
It is very intelligent and eager to please its owners. These traits make it very trainable. It learns quickly and seems to enjoy showing off tricks. It barks readily, this makes it a good watch dog. However, it often is yappy, barking excessively.
