cat advice

We got an email from Steve Bellino about his Cat, anyone can help him ? please leave a comment.

thanks

Hello,
I was hoping someone was familiar with the situation
I’m experiencing with my 7 year old cat. She started
acting lethargic yesterday, and her abdomen is larger
than usual. I suspected a bowel obstruction, so took
her to the vet today. He took Xrays & we saw a well
defined area which looked like it could be a mass, or
possibly inflamed pylorus. She’s a long haired calico,
and lives with her 2 long-haired sisters. They have
always vomited hairballs up. So my feeling is, is that
a hairball (trichobezoar) has become lodged in her
pyloris and is causing her bloating, discomfort, &
loss of appetite. She drank a decent amount of water
today,so she’s not dehydrated. I’m given her hairball
remedy to lubricate the surface of the hairball,
hoping it will make it slippery & she’ll pass it. The
vet gave her an antibiotic shot, and sent me home with
oral antibiotics. He had recommended an ultrasound at
another facility, plus a blood test, (neither of which
I can afford) to find out the exact nature of the
problem, as we don’t know what it is for sure. But
since money is an issue, I decided to wait & see if
this might resolve itself. My question is, has anyone
else experienced something similar, and is it feasible
to hope that she can clear this obstruction on her
own? If not, could they remove it via endoscopy? I’ll
take any feedback I can get. Thank you!
